Pour Decisions

A caffeine calculator for the day ahead.

Caffeine stays in your body for hours after the cup is empty. Enter when you wake up, when you go to bed and what you plan to drink. Pour Decisions works out when to drink it, when to stop, and how much will still be in your system at bedtime. The little guy in bed shows how tonight is going to go.

The dashed line is your sleep line. The dot is what's left at bedtime: green is fine, red is too much.

Pour Decisions is an estimate, not medical advice. It assumes each drink peaks after about 45 minutes and then halves every few hours (the sensitivity slider sets how many). Caffeine amounts are typical averages and real drinks vary a lot. The daily guide is 400 mg, the level the FDA cites as generally safe for most healthy adults, or 200 mg if pregnant or nursing. The sleep line is a rule of thumb set by the sleep slider.
